For a Good Start

We had a snowy morning. (Both photos above were taken this morning.) The last few years, we haven’t had a lot of snow. But, today it has snowed for the third or even the fourth time this winter. And this is kind of a lot for us. I love it, even though we’ve had lots of snow these last days. We were in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) for the last four days; Wednesday evening – Sunday afternoon. (All the photos below were taken there.) We took a little ski vacation with my brother’s family.

This was the view from our room in Kranjska Gora.

I didn’t ski much this time, but that’s okay because it was nice watching Arne. He obviously loves skiing like mom and dad. :) He had a small crisis one day, probably because he wasn’t sleeping too well at night, but otherwise he was a happy skier.

This little princess (Arne’s cousin Zoja) loves skiing, too. She says she’s going to be like Tina Maze one day. :) I think Tina Maze is a great role model.

The weather forecast says even more snow is coming tomorrow. It’s Shrove Tuesday tomorrow. What a day this is going to be?! Have a great one and a great week, too!

DIY – ‘I Love Books’ Bag

I made this ‘I love books’ bag for my little guy, because it’s true: he loves books. Actually, this is the only thing that keeps him still and he would let me read to him for hours. I made the bag because I love this kind of cotton bags. And I made the bag because we need one (or more) for library books. I also made one for myself.

To make your own, just follow the tutorial below.

Use fabric marker. Follow the instructions on the marker.

1. on Arne’s bag
2. on my bag
3. (Arne’s bag) on one side: ‘I love books’
4. (Arne’s bag) on the other side: ‘Rad imam knjige’ – That means ‘I love books’ in our (Slovenian) language.

p.s.: Have a great weekend!!

Our ‘Santa’ already came.

Our Santa Claus is Saint Nicholas (Miklavz). He came and visited us yesterday night. First he came to the daycare.

Today, on December 6, is the actual Saint Nicholas Day. This tradition is alive in many countries in Europe, related to surviving legends of the Saint Nicholas, the bishop, the gift-bringer, the children’s saint. In Slovenia Saint Nicholas is accompanied by angels and devils.

Yesterday only an angel came with him. Saint Nicholas brought gifts (mostly toys, fruits and candy) for the children. He left even more gifts for Arne and his cousins at grandparents’ house later on. And obviously he visited our home, aunt’s home and uncle’s home during the night, too. Nobody actually saw him in our homes. But, the gifts were there…

So, today is an important day around here! ;)
