DIY: chevron tray with coasters to match

You’ve probably seen a few chevron tray DIY projects on internet already. I have. And here comes one more chevron tray AND coasters-to-match DIY project. I’ve always liked chevron trays and so I decided to make one. I made a chevron tray for my sister. She and her husband have just renovated their terrace and she made a beautiful terrace table herself. (I’ll post about her table project some other time.)

So, I made a tray to match the table and then I made some coasters to match the tray. :)

This is all I used to make the chevron tray and the coasters:

I simply colored them – for the tray I used masking tape for painting. First I colored the tray with cream color. When the color was dry, I placed the tape – where you see cream chevron now – and colored the rest of this surface with turquoise blue color. For the coasters I made those protection pads out of foam rubber sheets (with hole puncher). I glued five small pads on the bottom of each coaster.

I like how the tray and the coasters turned out. I think I’ll make these in another color for us, too.
