Wishing You All the Best in 2014

Thank you everyone for reading (and following) my blog along this year! I really appreciate it and I look forward to sharing more in 2014. :)

Have a wonderful New Year!!

My Insta-World

This post today is kind of big. Not only because I haven’t posted my Instagram photos for a while, but also because there are three recipes and a DIY tutorial behind some of them. If you follow me on Instagram , you may have seen these along the way. If not, you can take a look below.

I decided to start with some warmth in this winter …

Here comes the first recipe: Healthy Smoothie Recipe. Take a cup of yogurt, add a banana, a handful of blueberries, a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of flaxseed. Blend well and then just drink it. I think it’s great for breakfast or a healthy snack.

The second recipe: Classic Sponge Cake with Strawberry Jam and Whipped Cream. I made a sponge according to this recipe here. I used twice the amount of everything under ingredients, because I made two separate sponges. I baked them in a round cake pan. Once they had both cooled completely, I spread the strawberry jam (one cup) on top of one cake and then the whipped cream (two cups) over the jam. Then I placed the other cake on top and sprinkled it with powdered sugar.

The third recipe: Ice Cream Cake in a Glass. Bake the cake according to this recipe here (for 15 to 20 glasses). Then crush the cake into pieces and make crumbs. Spoon 2 tablespoons of crumbs into each glass, pour them with 2 tablespoons of mint syrup or Baileys (or another good dessert sauce), then top with two or three tablespoons vanilla ice cream and then with a tablespoon of crumbs again. Pour over a tablespoon of the syrup or Baileys. Optional – add a tablespoon of whipped cream on top. Serve immediately. This was the main dessert on our Christmas Eve table.

I ate too much chocolate in December. In the second photo above is our homemade chocolate – you’ll find the recipe here.

I’ve been creative… I think. (Take a look here.)

My not-so-little-boy-anymore had birthday this month. And here is a little DIY project we made: Birthday Invitations. He’s four years old, so I painted four of his fingers. He made four prints – four balloons. I drew balloon ropes and then we just spread glue on the edge and dipped it in confetti. More you can see in photos above.

He presented a fable about dinosaurs to his preschool classmates and we had made these cardboard puppets for the presentation.

These are some little moments from our walks and my runs this month.

On a special day in December, I got these beautiful flowers…

Have a wonderful end of the year!!

Beautiful Scenery and Sunset

On Sunday afternoon we went hiking in this place, where we watched this nice sunset and enjoyed this beautiful scenery. The place is only 20 minutes drive away and I really don’t know why we don’t go there more often. Yesterday, it was so beautiful. I asked my little guy, if he wanted to go home, because it was getting really cold. He said: ‘No, I want to sit here and watch the sunset.’ And so we did…
