10 minute DIY – Essential Oil Diffuser

Today I’ve decided to show you the result of my weekend DIY project. It was a 10 minute DIY project (again). I made an essential oil diffuser. Now I have three (in three different rooms, of course). I like oil diffusers because the fragrance is dispensed lightly in the air and it can last for weeks. All you have to do is to turn the sticks upside-down every few days, when they look dry.

So, how to make an essential oil diffuser? I took an empty oil bottle, which looks more like a perfume bottle. I cleaned the bottle. I had some bamboo sticks at home – you can buy bamboo barbecue sticks, if you don’t have them at home or can’t find them elsewhere.

For the diffuser oil I used: 1/4 cup of baby oil, 3 tablespoons vodka and 15 to 20 drops of essential oil (I used two essential oils this time: sandalwood and lavender). I mixed all together in the bottle. Then I placed bamboo sticks in the bottle and I turned the sticks upside-down for the first time after a couple of hours. Done.

I like to make my own diffuser oil, because you can choose your favorite scents and mix and match them as you please.

Comments

  1. Definitely doing this. I even have the bamboo and vodka already!

  2. Love this! I have a box of essential oils that I’ve been trying to play around with and this is perfect!

  3. LOVE this idea! I’m in the midst of gathering ideas for our new home and this would just be perfect in a bathroom or office area. (Or both… you know, let’s just go crazy with it!)

    Thanks for the tips! xx
