First Tulips in March

Today, on the first day of March, I bought my first tulips this year.

I love March (It’s also my Birthday Month.;)).

I love tulips.

P.S.:

When you bring a bouquet of tulips home, cut the stems at a slight angle. If you can, cut the stems under the water. This should prevent air bubbles clogging up the stems (water travels up the stems into the leaves and flowers).

Place the tulips in the vase with just a little bit of room temperature water. (I prepare the water before buying the tulips.) Then add a little water every day.  Tulips continue to grow in the vase.

It’s good, if you mix the content of the little packet you get, when you buy flowers, into the water. It’s plant food in the packet, which should prolong the life of the tulips and encourage their stems to grow. If you don’t get the little packet, you can add a teaspoon of sugar, a few copper coins and an aspirin. So I’ve heard. And I added all this into the water. :)

Place the vase with tulips near the window.

Fresh tulips should stay fresh in the vase for about seven to ten days.

  1. I love tulips! My lovely manfriend bought me some last week and they brightened up my living room for ages. I always put a two-pence piece in with my tulips to keep them from drooping.

  3. Those are some really useful tips! Here we drop two pills of Panadol into the water, and that helps to keep the plant alive for longer, for some reason…
