A few months ago already I bought two kilograms (about 5 pounds) beeswax from a local beekeeper. You can get beeswax also from craft and hobby stores, … This past Saturday I finally made what I’d wanted – beeswax candles.
Beeswax candles are sure healthier, burn cleaner, smell better and last longer than other types of candles. And when you make them, you can add them different scents that you like. Beeswax candles don’t need to be scented, because beeswax has a natural, old-fashioned honey scent. It smells great. That’s why I left a few candles without adding anything else to them. To some I added lemon essential oil or lavender essential oil.
I used: beeswax, candle wick (You can also use cotton shoelaces. It has to be 100% cotton!!), an old pot, small wooden sticks (You can use toothpicks or some wire …), lemon essential oil and lavender essential oil, different glasses and jars and used tea light containers (You can use cans, old china cups …).
DIY instructions: Melt the beeswax in a pot on the lowest heat possible. While the beeswax is melting, prepare your containers and the wick – I helped myself with beeswax and small wooden sticks (third photo below). Once the beeswax is melted, pour it into your containers. Now (optional!) add the essential oil you chose (15 to 40 drops – it depends on the size of the candle). Leave poured candles to dry at room temperature at least for 24 hours. Cut the wick to size. And beeswax candles are done.
Beeswax candles make a great companion for relaxation.
Have a relaxing and fun weekend everyone!!
